How to crease and cut cardboard without tooling?

Thanks to technological advances, it is now possible to crease and cut cardboard without tooling. Aware of the benefits of this technique, Suteau-Anver has partnered with Highcon to bring you these solutions.

Highcon is based in Yavne, Israel, and has developed a unique and patented technology for digital, tool-free creasing and cutting solutions. These solutions are used in the finishing process in the corrugated cardboard industry.

A robust, reliable, cost-effective and tool-free solution

The diagram below explains in detail how this technology works to crease and cut without tools.

Items to be processed are first “stored” on the feed system before being transferred to the DART creasing station. The laser system then cuts the items, which are stacked again on the stacking system.

Digital cutting and creasing process explained in detail

The advantages of the solution offered by our partner are numerous.

Shorter time to market for your products

  • Able to process and stack up to 5,000 sheets per hour, your time to market is therefore significantly reduced.

Packaging that fits and can be customised

  • With Highcon solutions, you can customise each product according to your customers’ needs with no extra cost.
  • Packaging size and structure can be adapted to optimise the box format, helping you reduce shipping costs.

A cutting laser to replace tooling

  • Short machine set-up time (15 min)
  • Last-minute changes are quick
  • Less waste / loss and greater precision

Stronger boxes

  • Thanks to a specific creasing technology (DART station), the boxes produced by Highcon machines are stronger than those made on conventional machines

What is DART technology?

Patented DART technology

Digital Adhesive Rule Technology – DART

Highcon’s DART technology, used for CNC mechanical creasing, is made up of 3 elements:

  1. The resin
  2. The film
  3. The counter plate

The resin is the polymer written onto the film. It creates the crease when the sheets pass between the film and the counter plate. No more tooling required!

Satisfied customers

Martyn Johnson, Technical Managing Director at Orora Fiber Packaging Australasia
“We have been working with Highcon on digital finishing for corrugated cardboard for three years and we are constantly discovering more benefits of this innovative technology. We see great interest and great enthusiasm from major brand owners in the potential of digital finishing. It gives them far more capability than conventional cutting, both in terms of cutting and the ability to produce short and long runs quickly without waiting for a cutting tool. Overall manufacturing efficiency is therefore considerably improved.”

Leoš Máslo, POS & POP Project Manager at THIMM pack’n’display, adds:
“Our goal is always to provide customers with the best solution, whether for packaging or displays. We are convinced that digital technology affects the entire industry, and everyone should benefit from it. We are definitely delighted with the new machine and the impact it will have on increasing the overall efficiency of our different activities.”
